Currently, Malaria Consortium is recruiting for a Local Government Area (LGA) Field Assistant to join their team in Nasarawa, Nigeria. This role is crucial in supporting the implementation of Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) activities at the local government, healthcare facility, and household levels.

Key Responsibilities

1. Programme Implementation & Treatment Management (70%)

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of SMC activities at the local government level.
  • Ensure the timely implementation of community outreach programs, commodity distribution, and monitoring to prevent shortages.
  • Provide administrative support to field partners, including supervisors, healthcare workers, and community mobilizers.
  • Maintain accurate records of program targets, ensuring activities align with project goals.
  • Supervise and escalate implementation issues to the State Technical Officer (STO) for quick resolution.
  • Collaborate with public health officers and other partners to enhance LGA-level malaria prevention strategies.

2. Reporting & Data Quality Control (10%)

  • Review data from field distributors, ensuring accuracy before entering it into the reporting system.
  • Support the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Officer in resolving data quality issues promptly.
  • Submit reports to keep key stakeholders updated on project progress at the local level.

3. Coordination & Representation (10%)

  • Organize and participate in planning meetings at LGA and community levels.
  • Attend data validation sessions and provide critical updates as required by the STO.

4. Administrative & Other Duties (10%)

  • Assist in supply tracking and ensure adequate stock levels for malaria prevention operations.
  • Support finance officers by gathering account details for field personnel payments.
  • Maintain an inventory of SMC commodities and ensure proper documentation of supplies at health facilities.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the line manager.

Qualifications & Requirements

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum of a diploma in Clinical Sciences, Nursing, Social Science, or Public Health.
  • At least two years of experience in a related field.
  • Fluency in English and Hausa (or other local languages).
  • Experience in drug/commodity supply management, M&E, and logistics.
  • Strong ability to communicate with local government staff, health workers, and community leaders.
  • Hands-on experience in supportive supervision and data management.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience in logistics, training, and capacity building.
  • Ability to support teams and work under pressure.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office proficiency is an advantage).
  • Must be a Nigerian citizen (legal requirement).
