Job Responsibilities

The Field Assistant will support Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) activities across local government areas (LGAs), healthcare facilities, and households. The role involves program coordination, logistics management, monitoring, and data reporting to ensure smooth implementation of malaria prevention strategies.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Implementation & Program Coordination (70%)
  • Assist in the planning, execution, and supervision of SMC activities at the community level.
  • Ensure the distribution of malaria treatment commodities and track supply levels.
  • Provide support and training to field partners, including health workers, community mobilizers, and supervisors.
  • Monitor program targets and submit accurate field reports.
  • Coordinate with public health officers, community leaders, and government officials to drive malaria intervention efforts.
2. Data Collection & Reporting (10%)
  • Verify and review field reports, ensuring data accuracy for program evaluation.
  • Assist the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Officer in analyzing program outcomes and addressing any data discrepancies.
3. Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination (10%)
  • Organize and attend community meetings, data validation sessions, and government discussions related to SMC activities.
  • Collaborate with local authorities to improve community participation in malaria prevention efforts.
4. Administrative Support (10%)
  • Assist with supply chain tracking to prevent stockouts.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and support payments for field distribution personnel.
  • Provide logistical assistance for SMC activities, ensuring the smooth operation of malaria intervention programs.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Essential Criteria:
  • A diploma or degree in Public Health, Social Science, Nursing, or a related field.
  • At least two years of field experience in public health, NGO work, or healthcare programs.
  • Fluency in English and Hausa (or other local languages).
  • Experience in drug supply management, monitoring & evaluation (M&E), and logistics coordination.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with government agencies, healthcare workers, and communities.
Desirable Skills:
  • Prior experience in training and supervising teams.
  • Ability to handle logistics, capacity building, and data tracking efficiently.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Flexible, team-oriented mindset with the ability to work under pressure.
