Key Responsibilities

The Field Assistant will oversee the smooth implementation of SMC activities across health facilities and communities, ensuring efficient planning, reporting, and coordination with local government officials.

1. Program Implementation & Community Engagement (70%)

  • Assist in planning, logistics, and supervision of SMC activities at the LGA level.
  • Ensure proper distribution of commodities and supplies, preventing stock shortages.
  • Support training events for field personnel, including Supervisors, Health Facility Workers (HFW), and Community Health Workers (CHWs).
  • Track and report program targets, ensuring effective community mobilization.
  • Work closely with Public Health Officers and community leaders for local program ownership.

2. Data Reporting & Quality Control (10%)

  • Review data from field distribution, ensuring accuracy and completeness before submission.
  • Assist the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Officer in data collection, quality control, and resolving queries.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and submit reports to the State Technical Officer (STO).

3. Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement (10%)

  • Attend meetings at both LGA and community levels for program coordination.
  • Represent Malaria Consortium at data validation meetings and provide updates on field activities.

4. Administrative & Logistics Support (10%)

  • Participate in tracking supply consumption and planning stock levels.
  • Ensure all distributed SMC commodities are accounted for after each cycle.
  • Assist in processing payments for distribution personnel.

Qualifications & Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Nursing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of field experience in community-based healthcare programs.
  • Strong command of English and Hausa (or other local languages).
  • Experience in drug/commodity supply management, M&E, and logistics.
  • Ability to conduct supportive supervision and data management.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in logistics, training, and capacity building.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in challenging field conditions.
