Role Overview

The LGA Field Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the successful implementation of Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) activities at the local government area (LGA), healthcare facilities, and household levels. The role requires collaboration with government representatives and community stakeholders to execute malaria prevention programs effectively.

The Field Assistant will work under the State Technical Officer (STO) and contribute to the smooth delivery of SMC services, ensuring timely supply of malaria prevention commodities, data reporting, and community mobilization.


Key Responsibilities

1. Programme Implementation & Malaria Treatment Tracking (70%)

  • Assist in executing SMC activities, including route planning, commodity distribution, and community mobilization.
  • Track the consumption of medical supplies and ensure timely stock replenishment.
  • Provide supervision and support to healthcare workers (HFWs), supervisors, and community health workers (CHWs).
  • Monitor program progress and escalate issues to the State Technical Officer (STO) for resolution.
  • Engage with public health officers and community leaders to promote malaria prevention awareness.

2. Reporting & Data Quality Control (10%)

  • Review distribution tally sheets and ensure data accuracy.
  • Assist the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Officer in verifying program data.
  • Submit reports to keep the State Project Manager updated on the project’s progress.

3. Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement (10%)

  • Organize planning and coordination meetings with LGA representatives and community members.
  • Attend data validation meetings and ensure proper documentation of program activities.

4. Administrative & Logistics Support (10%)

  • Assist in tracking supply consumption to maintain adequate stock levels.
  • Ensure proper inventory management of malaria commodities after each treatment cycle.
  • Support payment processing for distribution personnel.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Essential Qualifications:

✔ A diploma or degree in Clinical Sciences, Public Health, Nursing, or Social Sciences.
✔ At least two years of field experience in health program implementation.
✔ Strong communication skills in English, Hausa, or other local languages.
✔ Experience in drug supply management, logistics, and data monitoring.
✔ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Desirable Qualifications:

✔ Experience in training and capacity building.
✔ Prior work experience at the LGA or community level.
✔ Ability to work independently and as part of a team in challenging environments.
